“Self-transformation is about creating a better life for yourself. A life that allows you to connect with your real self, a life you knew you always deserved,” says Radhhika Rakesh Garg, Director Rajdarbar Group.

The process of transformation might sound daunting, but hey, the climb will be worth it once your eyes see the breathtaking view from the top! The key to this change is in your hands. It will certainly require hard work, but will eventually pay off in the form of sweet success!

You begin with challenging yourself to improve certain aspects of your life. The challenges you choose to follow don’t have to be too big and difficult. We start with baby steps! And while you’re at it, always remember that doing this is going to help you discover a lot of things about yourself. Here are some starting points to get you started on your transformation journey.

  1. Create a morning ritual

“Take excellent care of the front end of your day, and the rest of your day will pretty much take care of itself. Own your morning. Elevate your life” – Robin Sharma, The 5 am Club.

Many of us feel demotivated and drained even before starting the day. Challenging yourself to follow a routine every single morning will help you begin your day on a high note. It will fill you up with positive energy and put you in the right mental state. A simple thing you can start with is having a good breakfast. Eat something delicious, yet full of nutrition. Gorge on a bowl of your favourite fruits, a savoury smoothie or some delectable salad with crunchy nuts in it!

You can choose to do some stretching and loosen up your body to feel light and agile or do anything that will make you feel refreshed. But you don’t have to start waking up super early and try doing more things immediately. We are taking baby steps, remember? Taking it slow and adding new things to your routine as you become comfortable with it will ensure consistency, says Radhhika Rakesh Garg, Director Rajdarbar Group. We don’t want our mornings to become a chore. It should be fun and self-motivating.

  1. Declutter not just your mind but the space around you too

“The first step in crafting the life you want is to get rid of everything you don’t” You must have noticed how difficult it becomes to function when your mind is full of thoughts and its chaos in there. Experts suggest activities like meditation so that you have more control over your thoughts and your mind becomes calm. In a similar way, it’s necessary that the physical space around you too is well organized and tidy.

The place we inhabit has an aura, a vibe which is created by how well we maintain the place. This in turn influences our mood. Keeping your surroundings neat and orderly certainly requires energy and time, but leave it cluttered and it will affect your productivity. Set smaller and achievable goals. For instance, remind yourself to take out the trash on a daily basis, ensure that you always keep things in their proper places after you are done using them. These are simple yet effective steps to help you set up new habits and overcome this challenge with ease.

  1. Write positive notes to yourself

Subconsciously, we are constantly talking to ourselves. This dialogue with your own self influences your perception and opinion. Hence, a great way to challenge yourself to thrive comes from using positive affirmations that can make you feel happy and confident. The simplest way to do this is to start scribbling some affirmations on post-it notes and place them around you in a way that they are easily noticeable.

Here are some great positive affirmations to challenge yourself to repeat on a daily basis:

  • I deserve happiness
  • I am becoming more confident everyday
  • I am free of worry and regret
  • I am trying my best to change
  • My possibilities are endless

These notes will be a reminder of how worthy you are of all the good things that are about to come your way. Change is a gradual process. Nothing will happen overnight, but believing you are capable and worthy of it will give you confidence and a peace of mind.

  1. Consume good content

As humans we have so much to learn, so much knowledge to gain from this world and the brilliant people who live amongst us and the ones who lived before us. It’s a blessing we live in an age where knowledge is easily accessible and there are so many mediums at our disposal. Read books and they will truly change your life! According to Radhhika Rakesh Garg, Director Rajdarbar Group, reading is the best thing you can do to productively spend your time. Books offer you immense knowledge and help you expand your vocabulary and inspire new ways of thinking.

If you are too busy to find time for reading, services like Scribd and Audible will give you access to thousands of audiobooks which you can listen to as per your convenience. Apart from reading books, you can listen to good podcasts, watch interesting film documentaries, browse through useful websites, blogs and so on. The point is, there’s content everywhere and you can make the choice to consume what’s beneficial for you, which will help you understand yourself and the world around you in a better way.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” ― Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

  1. Try limiting your cellphone and social media usage

It’s impossible to imagine our world without smartphones as they have made our lives so easy. But we can’t ignore the fact that we all are more or less addicted to our phones, especially to social media. While it helps us to stay connected with the world, it is equally responsible for disconnecting us from ourselves.

Getting enough off-screen time is essential and it can help you change your life for the better. Start by turning your phone off an hour before you sleep. Science says that checking your phone at night stimulates the brain & makes it more active and awake.

Keeping your phone away before bed can actually help you improve the quality of your sleep. Instead of spending time in mindless scrolling, checking what others are doing on the internet, spend this time for yourself. Cook your favourite dish for dinner, practice some light yoga or anything that helps you unwind, relax before going to bed.

  1. Whenever you get a chance, walk!

“Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast, you also miss the sense of where you are going and why” Eddie Cantor

In today’s hectic and busy world, we hardly have any time to exercise on a daily basis. Hitting the gym might not be an option for many reasons, but you can certainly start going on a daily walk. Walking is miraculous and it can offer you more benefits than you can imagine. It’s a great way to spend quality time with yourself and a chance to collect your thoughts in tranquility. The fresh air will clear your mind and calm you down. Besides, spending more time with yourself can be really helpful when it comes to your personal growth.

The idea behind all these challenges is to help you become the best version of yourself, motivate you to try new things to lead a better life, says Radhhika Rakesh Garg, Director Rajdarbar Group. You might ask what if you are not able to complete a particular challenge? Well, it’s completely fine and there’s no reason for you to be hard on yourself. Just know that you are doing your best.

As rightly put by author Robin Sharma – “Yes, your transformation will be hard. Yes, you will feel frightened, messed up and knocked down. Yes, you’ll want to stop. Yes, it’s the best work you’ll ever do.”

Change is the name of the game, but you won’t make it if you don’t challenge yourself. Constant effort is of significant importance, even if you break your goal into small targets. Therefore, don’t shy away from what is required and keep pushing yourself to make your mark.
