German is a language commonly viewed with suspicion by those who are considering the possibility of learning a second language. Either because of its seemingly impossible pronunciation, because of its kilometric words that sometimes seem to be composed of more than twenty letters, or because of its grammatical norms, the student who enters his learning usually feels a little intimidated. However, as with many things in life, as we progress through the program we will discover that all these ideas were just baseless prejudices.
Even so, what do us really know about this language?
To begin with, it is interesting to know that German is an Indo-European language that is part of the western Germanic languages. But what do we mean when we speak of Indo-European?
