Even though the Western world is based entirely on capitalism and making money to afford desirable possessions and necessary living expenses, without a healthy mind and body, you could have all the money in the world and not be happy.
Living in the moment and striving to enjoy each day as it comes while still planning for the future and fondly reminiscing about the past will lead to a boost to your overall feelings of fulfillment and contentment.
With that being said, here are three ways to help you live in the moment and enjoy your life.
1. Stop Packing Your Schedule to the Rafters
First and foremost, even though you may often feel as if there is literally no time between one appointment in your diary to the next and, moreover, that you always seem to be chasing your tail and can never seem to get ahead, it is time to prioritize your engagements.
Naturally, any professional commitments need to be fulfilled, but when it comes to agreeing to additional work or more projects (especially if you are not being paid any extra), think carefully before you commit.
This way, you will have more time to breathe, relax, and find enjoyment in the simple pleasures, such as walking to work on a summer’s day, now that you have more time for yourself.
2. Experience Freedom on Solo Adventures
In these current economic times, unless you are incredibly fortunate, planning a round-the-world solo tour may not be viable right now.
However, this does not mean you are unable to get out there and enjoy yourself and your own company with a new experience or on a new adventure, which would be substantially easier if you own a car.
If you are somewhat of an automobile fanatic, then treat your car to a valet, have any paint scratches filled in and buffed over, and look into fancy accessories, such as 4D number plates, before setting off on a road trip with your favorite tunes.
3. Start Writing Down Your Little Enjoyments
Even if it feels and has felt for a while now, that you never seem to be able to fully relax and enjoy the moment, it may well be the case that the small, simple things in life are actually making you happy, yet you tend to overlook them without noticing their effect.
To counteract this and to make yourself realize that there is enjoyment to be found in virtually any activity, from now on, as you go through your day, write down the little things you enjoy, a joke that makes you smile, or a tasty treat you absolutely love. Grab a notebook or write it on your phone so you can look back through it.
This list of pure enjoyment serves to focus your thoughts and realize that there is much in life to appreciate, with other examples being when you come to your pet and they greet you or when a friend sends you a get well soon card.
